Choosing a Beginner Electric Guitar

There are many great options for the beginner electric guitarist. Let us help you choose the right instrument with our guide on beginner electric guitars.

Buying your first Beginner Electric Guitar (or a gift for somebody) is an exciting experience, but your initial quesition will always be, what is the best beginner electric guitar to buy?....there are so many options!?!....so where do I begin? Here's a round up of great value entry level models to help you to make an informed decision and choose the right guitar, be it for yourself or for a present.

A great value way to begin to learn electric guitar is to invest in an electric guitar package, as they'll include all the essentials you'll need to get going. Some great, affordable options include the Squier Short Scale/ Frontman 10G Pack (great for younger/smaller players) and the Squier HSS Strat / Frontman 15G package.

Don't fancy a package, and want to choose your guitar seperately? Well let's look at some entry level guitars from the Squier range. The Squier Bullet models are super beginner guitars delivering classic looks with great playability. The Squier Bullet Strat Hardtail is an affordable take on the legendary Fender guitar and come in a range of colours, whilst the more alternative Squier Bullet Mustang HH is another great option too.

Fender's other famous model apart from the Stratocaster is the Telecaster. Again, Squier produce a superb value Telecaster in the form of the Squier Affinity Telecaster. The Telecaster differs from Stratocaster not only in body shape but in tone - delivering more 'twang' and slightly brighter in tone thanks to it's unique pickup choice. A lovely left handed model is also available - the Squier Affinity Telecaster Left Handed in a beautiful Butterscotch finish.

Alongside buying your first electric guitar you will have to purchase an amp to amplify the sound, here is the range - Practice Amps. If all these amp options seem too daunting then good options are the Line 6 Spider Classic 15, Marshall MG10CFRFender Mustang I v2 and the feature rich Blackstar ID:Core 10 v2. A cable is required to plug your guitar in the amp, a great option here and we would highly recommend a guitar tuner, of which the BOSS TU-01 or BOSS TU-10 are great options.

Below you'll see a larger selection of models that will suit any beginner electric guitarist and get them off on the right foot.
