GigGear - Gear of the Week - 13th June 2016

This is the first in a run of weekly blogs posts whereby we'll be highlighting a small selection of items that we have personally picked.

With so many great bits of gear (both new and secondhand) constantly arriving into our store we thought we'd setup a weekly post allowing us to highlight a few choice products (items are in stock at the time of writing).

 Second hand Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier Solo Head

This Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier head just arrived in our 2nd hand department recently and it has certainly been attracting a lot of attention on the shop floor. This particular model can deliver a whopping 100 watts of pure valve power with three independently voiced channels, making it fit for any stage around the world. The Dual Rectifier boasts 8 incredible modes, a solo control feature and even a programmable effects loop. For those metal or rock guitarists out there who are seeking a high quality, high output, versatile head that offers varied tones and voicings then this is definitely worth a look.  

Fender Parmount PM-2 Deluxe Acoustic in Sunburst

If you head down to the store you will find this Fender Paramount PM2 has pride of place in the centre of our acoustic section. 

The Paramount PM2 boasts a fantastic spec for the price point with a comfortable parlour sized body crafted from all solid premium woods, an included fishman preamp with tuner, highly playable mahogany “C” profile neck, quartersawn X bracing and 1940’s style touches.

This is a great choice of instrument for an array of players, but will really appeal to the guitarist after a small bodied acoustic, the fingerstyle player or that ol' blues player!

The range of Fender Paramount acoustics have been a huge success since their launch earlier this year with a small but concise selection of models available.

 Second hand Fulltone 70-BC FuzHand built in southern California by the boutique pedal specialists Fulltone, this 70-BC has a circuit that has been derived from a 1970’s Fuzz Face. The Fuzz Face pedals back in the day, made famous by a certain Mr. Hendrix, behaved very differently to that of the modern mass produced equivalent available new today.This difference in personality was thanks to its BC108C transistors that were often mismatched, this means that these silicon transistors will snarl, spit and even start to oscillate when pushed. This Fulltone 70 has been developed to same specs in order to recapture the harmonic madness! Not for the faint hearted.

Fender FSR Made in Japan Jaguar in Old Candy Apple Red

When we heard Fender Japan were releasing a limited run of 60’s Jaguars we just had to have one.

Originally designed for the surf music scene of the 1960’s the Fender Jaguar has morphed into so much more, becoming the go to guitar for countless alternative Rock and Indie bands down the years thanks to its cool off-set body, punchy vintage style single coil pickups, quirky electronics and its slim “C” shaped neck.

This is a gorgeous example of the breed featuring an old candy apple red finish with the rare matching headstock combination and rosewood fingerboard.

As with all Fender's FSR models, we are sure this guitar won't hang about long, so why not pop down to the store and try it out!
