So BOSS have revealed what they have been working on behind closed doors and we are very excited about this all new amp range. So what are they all about?
So the latest news in from BOSS. Following their introduction of their exclusive Waza Craft amp during last years NAMM show they are now proud to announce their latest innovation. The all new BOSS Katana amplifier range.
This fresh range will be made up of three affordable yet extremely powerful combo amps along with a 100 watt head, and in the words of BOSS themselves all promise "Class-defying tone, touch response, and presence". Judging by the specs they really seem to be a force to be reckoned with.
So what do features to do the new range share?
Each amp boasts five channels and 55 effects that are customisable via the BOSS Tone Studio editor software, plus a very innovative power control so you can lower the wattage to access the tonal response of a cranked up amp at lower volume.
Choose from 5 unique amp characters taken from the original Waza amp including Clean, Crunch, Lead, Brown, and Acoustic. On top of this you now have the capability to store up to 15 effects in the amp and use 3 at once!
Of course with BOSS, with their stompbox heritage, these Katana amps are put together using the most rugged materials to ensure they are gig or tour worthy for decade after decade! On top of this BOSS have ensured that these versatile amps remain lightweight and practical, which your roady will thank you for.
First we start with the Katana 100-watt head and it boasts some excellent features. In terms of connectivity this amp has a speaker out so you can pair it with your favourite 8 or 16-ohm cabinet and it is equipped with an effects loop and MIDI for integration with more complex rigs. Weighing just under 9kg this is a easily transportable amp that will be perfect for the studio or home. You can even take advantage of its built-in 5-inch speaker for solo practise or back of the van jams!
Here we have the Katana 2x12 combo gig ready amplifier, with it's two 12-inch speakers you really get that extra spread of sound to let through the thumping 100 watts output in all its glory! However this is a modern 100 watt amp that has moved on with the times thanks to its built in power control to lower the wattage, an extremely handy feature on a powerful amp such as this if you want to use it for smaller gigs and practise.
Similar to the previous 100 watt twin brother, the one and only difference with this Katana 100 watt 1x12 combo is its speaker specification. This model packs a single 12 inch speaker as an alternative tonal option.
For some 100 watt is simply overkill! Boss have therefore included this powerful yet affordable 50 watt combo amplifer in the new Katana range. This compact combo features one single 12 inch speaker so you can access top quality projection. This is a mean and versatile gigging amp in its own right that will dominate the studio, home rehearsals, pubs, clubs and small venues for decades!
