Ampeg
Originally named Michaels-Hull Electronic labs in 1964 by the partnership of Stanley Michaels and Everett Hull - it was later changed to the Ampeg Bass Amp Company after the companys first product; a pickup for an upright bass which was named the amplified peg.
From practice amps to gigging rigs, the Ampeg range will have something that caters for you in size, style and output but if thats not enough to convince you then the likes of Pino Palladino (The Who, John Mayer, Eric Clapton) Cliff Williams (AC/DC), Robert Trujillo (Metallica, Ozzy Osbourne) and Bootsy Collins (Parliament, James Brown, Snoop Dogg) all use Ampeg.
Ampeg have several series including the B, BA (Bass Amp), PF (Portaflex) and SVT (Super Valve Technology) ranges.
The Roket combos offer a huge amount of tonal control with only a 3- band EQ on each model. These combos come in a variety of sizes making them suitable for a variety of uses. On top of that they feature line-out, style control, and padded input options. The tilt-back design makes them ideal for both the smaller stage or in the studio.
The Portaflex range are inspired by the iconic B-15 - their flip-top design (allowing the head to be flipped over and slotted in the cabinet), grille cloth, black diamond tolex and a rugged cabinet design. Modern features that todays players demand including being ultra-compact and lightweight, having a dedicated DI and FX loops and also an on-board limiter. These are ideal for any stage and have several cabinets to choose from.
The SVT was brought in in 1969 giving you even more power and to this day still gives the classic all-tube sound of the original 60s and 70s models. This classic sound can even be found in the tiny Micro-CL stack which is pumping out a mere 100 watts in comparison to its big brother; the SVT-450.
