This is the latest incarnation of the Taylor 814ce (2020 spec) - a stunning electro acoustic guitar that features Taylor's signature Grand Auditorium body shape, V-Class bracing, an ergonomic rosewood armrest, and Taylor's Expression System 2.
The V-Class bracing is a concept developed by master guitar designer Andy Powers of Taylor Guitars from the ground up. This game changing advancement builds the internal framework of the 814ce and as a result dictates the way the guitars top vibrates, vastly improving the sound by remaining both stiff enough to offer great sustain but flexible enough to produce excellent volume. In addition, V-bracing allows the top to keep in tune with the vibrating strings, thus allowing notes and chords played anywhere on the neck to be more consistent and in tune with each other. Breaking away from the tradition of X bracing the V bracing is a new platform to solve an old age issue with acoustic guitars.
The 814ce features that classic tonewood combination of an Indian rosewood back and sides complimented by a Sitka spruce top set off with the addition of Taylor's ergonomic armest crafted from rosewood and maple binding. Still able to deliver its characteristic blend of warmth, low-end presence, and high-range sparkle, but now elevated to new heights thanks to the V-Class bracing. The body is married to a Tropical Mahogany neck that is topped with a standout smoky ebony fretboard, sourced from Taylor's Crelicam mill in Cameroon and set with 20 frets and Taylor's Elemant inlays.
The 814ce also excels when its 'electro-acoustic' qualities are required, be it in a live situation or a studio environment, thanks to Taylor's Expression System 2 electronics system. At the heart of the system is Taylor's behind the saddle pickup, which features three uniquely placed pickup sensors that in conjunction Taylor's custom designed professional audio grade preamp conveys the voice of the acoustic guitar whilst capturing more of the guitar's dynamic properties. Controls couldn't be simpler - volume, bass and treble.
Other elegant appointments for this iteration include an Indian Rosewood pickguard and mother-of-pearl Element fretboard and peghead inlays.
Play fingerstyle, strum chords in a band, singer-songwriter, play jazz ...whatever your acoustic needs, the Grand Auditorium shaped Taylor 814ce will deliver. With the ability to produce unbelievable expression and dynamics, you can be sure that 814ce has got it what it takes to bring out the best of your playing.
