This Epiphone Viola Bass, in beautiful vintage sunburst, is a veteran from the British invasion and is now back without the vintage price tag! Vintage looks and warm bass tone come together in a beautiful iconic package.
The Epiphone Viola bass body is built using a maple body which has been finished in a classic vintage sunburst. The body profile and the all maple tonewood construction make this bass very resonant in character, infused with a warm midrange. Matched perfectly is the headstock which riffs Epiphone's famous 60s Sloped Dovewing headstock.
The Viola has a 30.5" scale maple neck, which has been hand-set and glued-in to create a secure connection between the two, increasing sustain and improving overall tonality. Married to the neck is a 20-fret, 12" radius fingerboard, equipped with dot inlays.
The Viola's tone is translated sweetly by the NYR Mini Humbucker in the neck position along with the NYT Mini Humbucker in the bridge position. From tightly compressed tones to thick and muddy, this pairing has the ability to produce a vast range of unique tones from delightful midrange punch to a high end snap. Independent volume controls as well as a master tone knob for each pickup allows you to fine tune your tone.
The touches Epiphone have included on this bass means it delivers the same unique tonal offerings of its predecessors, with some modern appointments to make it better than ever.
