The Earthquaker Devices Avalanche Run V2 is the latest incarnation of the ultra versatile stereo reverb and delay pedal. If you want to explore dreamy soundscapes and lush room filling sounds here's what you need!
With its vast 8 control knob layout, micro switch, 2 footswitches and assignable expression pedal you have a whole world of creativity and exploration at your feet.
Along the top row you have 4 controls. The Time knob sets the delay time from 0ms to just under 2000ms, and the Repeats knob controls the regeneration of the delay, The wide range Tone controls the tone for the delay only (taking you from tape emulation to bucket brigade tones), and finally the Mix which sets the volume for the delay line in and wet/dry mix over the course of the turn.
Below this you have the two rotary selectors; EXP is used to assign the mode to a separate expression pedal, whilst the Ratio selects delay subdivisions when time is set by the Tap switch. Between these is the Decay knob, which sets the decay of the reverb - which itself is a huge plate style reverb with a touch of modulation, left for short sounds and right for a long cavernous decay, and then the Mix which is the volume control for the reverb. A mini toggle switch sets the delay/reverb mode with Normal for standard delay and reverb, Reverse puts the delay in reverse whilst keeping reverb standard and Swell which is the volume swell mode.
There are two footswitches. Activate for turning the effect on and off and Tap, for a handy foot controlled Tap Tempo. Earthquaker Devices have also adopted a clever footswitch into the Avalanche Run pedal. Utilizing their Flexi-Switch technology you can either quickly tap the footswitch for regular latching operation OR for the momentary operation hold the footswitch down...clever!
In addition there is a switchable true bypass or buffered bypass with 5 different tail lengths (including a sound-on-sound style lo-fi looping mode).
