The Solid Gold FX EM-III Multi-Head Octave Echo is a super powerful and highly versatile delay pedal that will take you from classic, warm analogue delays all the way up to experimental soundscapes.
At the heart of the EM-111 is a multi-head tape style echo, with the top row of controls; Time, Repeat and Level controlling this. You then have the option to add in a signal resulting in a unique, rhythmic delays with bold wash landscapes. The mini toggle switch Head/Octave allows to either switch it to the right for the Octave effect on or off, or to the left to select between 1, 2 or 3 delays heads.
The EM-III also hosts a delay modulation, controlled via the Flutter knob. At its centre point there is no modulation, move it left for slow, dreamy chorus-like effect or to the right for a more intense faster vibrato style sound. The Colour knob to the right of this is to engage both High or Low Pass filtering. To the left cuts the highs giving access classic analogue warmth and murkiness, whilst to the right sucks the lows out for brighter, tape-style repeats.
...and the fun doesn't end there! Hold the Tap footswitch (normal use is for tap tempo) and it'll increase repeats until self-oscillation for a huge wall of sound. If you hold the Bypass (normal use will bypass the effect) it'll replicate the sound of a tape motor going mad and a tape reel snapping....and yes, you can hold hold both footswitches for all manner of noise!
The Solid Gold FX EM-III is a superb choice for anyone in the market for a boutique delay pedal with access to bags of tonal experimentation, whilst also able to deliver classic tape-style delay alongside more modern digital delay sounds too!
