The Fender American Original 70s Jazz Bass uses the inspirational style and specifications of the 1970s era J bass design. Known being comfortable to play with a smooth feel and midrange snarl, the original Jazz basses of the 70s will forever be hailed as one the all time greats - perfect for studio recording or live performances alike.
This example of the iconic Jazz bass design uses a lightweight Ash body as apposed to the Alder examples of previous generations as well as an alternative Gloss Urethane finish. All the typical styling touches from the famous era are preset too, from the stand out 70s logo headstock down to the pearloid blocks inlays.
One of the key changes this second incarnation saw was a Maple neck with a more sleek '70s U-shaped' neck profile. This update was implemented to further improve the fast playing nature of the neck itself and aid funk, groove and slap styles that were becoming ever more popular. This original feel has been updated further using a more modern 9.5" fingerboard radius in order to further improve playability to keep up with the modern bassists demands.
A set of Pure Vintage 75 Jazz Bass single-coil pickups have been chosen as their enamel-coated coil wire, cloth-covered output wires, fiber bobbins and alnico 5 magnets mean that they are as period-correct as possible. For that definitive funk and disco groove tone and beyond, it doesnt get much more authentic.
Each and every key component and appointment found on the original-era 70s J bass are present on this American Original model in order to uphold the high standards that made the bass the 'go-to' for countless musicians of the decade. As standard players will benefit from vintage-tall frets, that original-era body radius, vintage style hardware, a four-saddle vintage style bridge, a bone nut and even a vintage-style hardshell case.
