Fender Custom Shop’51 Nocaster pickup set. The bridge pickup is outstanding: a real Tele twang, but with great depth and dynamic range, and the combined bridge and neck pickup is beautiful. However if you like playing just the neck pickup alone, then you might need to play it through a gain pedal, which I do, and it sounds beautiful. Take care in balancing the pickup heights with regard to volume rather than height alone, or you will end up playing your volume control a lot because the bridge pickup is a lot hotter. But, if you only engage the gain pedal when switching to neck alone, then this should compensate for any difference. If you want the classic 50’s Broadcaster, Nocaster, or Telecaster sound, then these are for you, and the background noise is minimal if played through a noise gate. I use Boss pedals and they suit these pickups perfectly.
