First off Gig Gear are amazing , have been a customer for 20+ years ever since they have the shop in Hertford. Back then I bought my Squier Telecaster which is still my favourite guitar and the one I put these bad boys in. The Fender Tex Mex pickups are a great way of upgrading the stock pickups. They definitely give a lot more punch but are also very versatile in sound. It took me about a week of messing around with the heights to find that sweet spot but that’s all part of the fun of modding a guitar. Using the height adjust , volume and tone you can get so much out of your tele. I like to play blues , punk and metal so I often tweak the sounds as I go and these pickups enable me to do that .one thing I could never do with the old pickups was tapping or touch play which is now easy with the high output of the bridge pickup. You really can go from “clean to mean and everything in between” like it says on the ad . Installing them isn’t too hard but it did take me around an hour because I’m not great with a soldering iron. Also the ground wire on the neck pickup is very short but I clipped and soldered it to the existing wire and it works fine. Get someone else to install them if you are not sure. All in all great purchase Very happy with the sound, price and installation diagram provided. Next up I want to get some vintage style tuners for my Tele.
