The Fender Pawn Shop Excelsior is a real unique product, bearing no resemblance to any other Fender amp...in looks or features! It has just received an excellent 4 out of 5 star review from musicradar.
The Fender Pawn Shop Excelsior is a real unique product, bearing no resemblance to any other Fender amp...in looks or features! It has just received an excellent 4 out of 5 star review from musicradar. Quotes include:
'The go-to amp for credible old-school Americana valve sounds on a budget.'
'Clean tones are very rewarding, especially when you add in some of the output bias tremolo effect'
The Excelsior is an all valve 13 watt combo from the Pawn Shop Series featuring a 15" speaker, tremolo circuit and includes dedicated inputs for guitar, harmonica and accordian.
This little beauty of an amp delivers a great, warm clean tone whilst pushing the valves (two 6V6 output tubes and two 12AX7 preamp tubes) with some powerful humbuckers lets the amp open into some cool vintage, dare we say it, lo-fi driven tones - lending itself will for those wailing harmonica blues lines!
Controls are simple but deliver a suprising amount of versatility, the top loaded Volume and Tremolo controls allow for simple tweaks whislt the Bright/Dark switch enables allows for a little more EQing.
This amp certainly won't be for everybody (can't see any knob twiddling, amp emulating, FX tweaking lovers falling for this!) but for some it will be definitely be tone and style heaven.
